Carotid artery stenting (CAS) has become a viable alternative to carotid endarterectomy for the management of carotid stenosis. Our aim was to determine the rate of radiographic restenosis after CAS and clinical, radiographic, and procedural predictors of in-stent restenosis. ⋯ In this large, single-center study of carotid artery stenosis treated with CAS, residual in-stent carotid stenosis of approximately 30% and smoking status were independent predictors for restenosis. Maximizing treatment of initial stenosis and smoking cessation education are important steps in preventing future carotid restenosis.

Burr hole trepanation to evacuate chronic subdural hematoma (cSDH) results in bony skull defects that can lead to skin depressions. We intend to study the effect of burr hole covers to prevent skin depressions and improve the esthetic result. ⋯ Satisfaction with the esthetic result of the scar was inherently high. This study does not show evidence for improvement on the ANA scale by applying a burr hole cover. The application of burr hole covers resulted in less skin depressions and did not negatively affect complication rates or outcomes.

Chronic migraine can be a profoundly disabling disorder that may be treated with preventive medications. However, uncertainty remains as to which preventive medication is the most effective. We present a network meta-analysis to determine the effectiveness and rank of preventive drugs for chronic migraine in adults. ⋯ PROSPERO (number CRD42021265990).

Endovascular treatment (EVT) of small anterior communicating artery (ACoA) aneurysms accompanies a high risk of intraprocedural rupture (IR) because of anatomic location and aneurysm orientation. In this study, we aimed to investigate the safety and efficacy of EVT for small ACoA aneurysms in a contemporary cohort. ⋯ EVT of small ACoA aneurysms is safe and effective.

Stent-assisted coiling (SAC) of acutely ruptured aneurysms has been controversial. Moreover, for aneurysms originating from small diameter vessels, the SAC presents more challenges. This study aimed to investigate the predictors of perioperative complications after SAC with Leo baby stent of acutely ruptured aneurysms. ⋯ Worse clinical condition, irregular shape, and larger aneurysms were independently associated with overall complications, whereas worse clinical condition was viewed as an independent predictor for thromboembolic complications. Attention to these factors is essential for the safe treatment and prognosis of patients with acutely ruptured aneurysms.
