Characterization of Pediatric Infratentorial Arteriovenous Malformations: A Retrospective, Multicenter Cohort Study.
Infratentorial arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) harbor different characteristics compared with supratentorial AVMs. This study aims to explore the unique characteristics of pediatric infratentorial AVMs and their response to single session stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS). ⋯ Despite baseline differences between infratentorial and supratentorial pediatric AVMs, SRS outcomes, including AVM obliteration and post-SRS hemorrhage rates, were comparable amongst both groups. SRS appears to have a similar risk profile and therapeutic benefit to infratentorial pediatric AVMs as it does for those with a supratentorial location.

Multinational Analysis of Marginal Liver Grafts Based on the Eurotransplant Extended Donor Criteria.
To evaluate the outcome of marginal liver grafts based on the Eurotransplant extended criteria donor (ECD) criteria. ⋯ The outcome of transplanted grafts from higher risk donors was nearly equal to standard donors with Eurotransplant criteria failing to predict survival of marginal grafts. Modifying ECD criteria could improve graft allocation and potentially expand the donor pool.

To determine the interobserver variability for complications of pancreatoduodenectomy as defined by the International Study Group for Pancreatic Surgery (ISGPS) and others. ⋯ The interobserver variability for the ISGPS-defined complications of pancreatoduodenectomy was too high even though the "within centers" agreement was acceptable. Since these findings will decrease the quality and validity of clinical studies, ISGPS has started efforts aimed at reducing the interobserver variability.

Improving Surgical Care and Outcomes in Older Cancer Patients Through Implementation of a Pre-Surgical Toolkit (OPTI-Surg)-Final Results of a Phase III Cluster Randomized Trial (Alliance A231601CD).
To assess the effect of a practice-level preoperative frailty screening and optimization toolkit (OPTI-Surg) on postoperative functional recovery and complications in elderly cancer patients undergoing major surgery. ⋯ Frailty assessment was successfully performed, but the OPTI-Surg intervention did not improve postoperative function nor reduce postoperative complications compared with UC. Future analysis will explore practice-level factors associated with toolkit implementation and the differences between the coaching and noncoaching arms.

Global Outcomes Benchmarks in Laparoscopic Liver Surgery for Segments 7 and 8: International Multicenter Analysis.
In recent years, there has been growing interest in laparoscopic liver resection (LLR) and the audit of the results of surgical procedures. The aim of this study was to define reference values for LLR in segments 7 and 8. ⋯ This study shows the need to establish standards for the postoperative outcomes in LLR based on the complexity of the resection and the location of the lesions.
