Magnetic Resonance Imaging-Guided Cardiac Catheterization Evacuation Drills.
The interventional cardiac magnetic resonance imaging suite combines a cardiac catheterization x-ray laboratory with a magnetic resonance imaging suite. At the study institution, interventional cardiac magnetic resonance imaging procedures (ie, magnetic resonance imaging-guided cardiac catheterizations) have been performed under institutional review board-approved research protocols since 2015. Because the workplace incorporates x-ray and magnetic resonance imaging in a highly technical environment, education about the importance of magnet safety is crucial to ensure the safety of patients and staff. ⋯ Magnetic resonance imaging-guided cardiac catheterization evacuation drills promote preparedness, ensure patient and staff safety, and improve evacuation time in the interventional cardiac magnetic resonance imaging environment.

A 67-year-old woman, who recently immigrated to the United States from Afghanistan, presented to the hospital after sustaining a mechanical fall. She had no significant medical history and was not on any medication routinely. ⋯ The patient had no prior personal history or exposure to TB. Results of a previous purified protein derivative skin test upon immigration were negative.

Background: There is no gold standard approach for delirium diagnosis, making the assessment of its epidemiology difficult. Delirium can only be inferred though observation of behavioural disturbance and described with relevant nouns or adjectives. Objective: We aimed to use natural language processing (NLP) and its identification of words descriptive of behavioural disturbance to study the epidemiology of delirium in critically ill patients. ⋯ Conclusions: NLP enabled rapid assessment of large amounts of data identifying a population of ICU patients with typical high risk characteristics for delirium. Moreover, this technique enabled identification of previously poorly understood associations. Further investigations of this technique appear justified.
