Over the past decade, stenting of lateral sinus stenosis has been used to treat idiopathic intracranial hypertension. Two types of stenoses have been identified: extrinsic and intrinsic. ⋯ Irrespective of the type of stenosis, stenting of lateral sinus stenoses is an effective treatment for intracranial hypertension symptoms. At our institution, this treatment has replaced draining of cerebrospinal fluid when treatment with acetazolamide has proved to be ineffective.

The effect of routine availability of sugammadex on postoperative respiratory complications: a historical cohort study.
Postoperative residual curarisationf is a preventable cause of postoperative morbidity. Although sugammadex has been shown to reduce the risk of residual curarisation, it has not yet been shown if this directly translates to a reduction in morbidity. We aimed to demonstrate whether the introduction of unrestricted sugammadex for routine reversal changed the incidence of post-operative respiratory diagnoses and the rate of airway and respiratory complications in the post-operative care unit. ⋯ Unrestricted sugammadex availability is associated with a reduction in post-operative respiratory complications. A well-designed, prospective randomised trial is needed to provide further validation of the data.

Safety and efficacy of natalizumab in patients with acute ischaemic stroke (ACTION): a randomised, placebo-controlled, double-blind phase 2 trial.
In animal models of acute ischaemic stroke, blocking of the leukocyte-endothelium adhesion by antagonism of α4 integrin reduces infarct volumes and improves outcomes. We assessed the effect of one dose of natalizumab, an antibody against the leukocyte adhesion molecule α4 integrin, in patients with acute ischaemic stroke. ⋯ Biogen.

Analysis of the First 217 Appendectomies of the German NOTES Registry.
To analyze the feasibility and safety of Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery (NOTES) appendectomy, and to analyze separately the transvaginal appendectomy (TVAE) and the transgastric appendectomy (TGAE) procedures. ⋯ The evaluation of the largest patient collective so far indicates that hybrid NOTES appendectomy is a safe procedure, with advantages for the transvaginal technique with respect to procedural time and conversion rate.
