Healthcare providers often lack awareness, knowledge, and confidence in managing vulvodynia, which can lead to difficulties with diagnosis and treatment for individuals with the condition. ⋯ An online educational toolkit tailored to community-based primary care settings supports the management of patients with vulvodynia by family physicians. Our findings lay the foundation for the upscaling of this tool.

Chronic ocular pain impacts quality of life and is often linked to ocular surgery. We assessed the prevalence of chronic postoperative pain (CPOP) after cataract surgery and associated risk factors using a secondary cohort post-hoc analysis of data from the Age-Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS), a multicenter, controlled, randomized clinical trial of antioxidant vitamins and minerals. Ocular pain was determined from item 4 of the National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire (NEI-VFQ-25), administered between 1997 and 2005. ⋯ PERSPECTIVE: We found a high prevalence of Chronic Postoperative Pain (CPOP) in the AREDS cohort, with 13 % of participants who underwent cataract surgery developing CPOP. Post-hoc analysis did not identify significant risk factors for CPOP. Our study contributes valuable insights into a growing area of interest in pain management within ophthalmology.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyClinical presentation, acute care management and discharge information of patients with thoracic trauma in South Africa and Sweden: a prospective multicenter observational study.
Thoracic trauma causes pain and hospitalisation. Middle- and high-income countries have different trauma contexts and populations. To report patients' clinical presentation (pain and shortness of breath) and its influence on hospital length of stay (LOS), acute care management, and discharge destinations in South Africa (SA) and Sweden. ⋯ Priority care is indicated for those who are older and have blunt thoracic injury to prevent pulmonary complications and prolonged hospitalisation.

This study aimed to determine the tendency of older adults to present to the emergency department with pain complaints during the COVID-19 pandemic compared to the prepandemic period. ⋯ During the COVID-19 pandemic, our study revealed fewer presentations to the emergency department for pain-related complaints. To prevent severe health problems from delayed care, we recommend expanding telemedicine, remote pain management, and home-based care. Further research is needed to examine the long-term effects of increased myalgia and joint pain.

This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of relaxation exercise with VR (Virtual Reality) glasses on pain severity, anxiety level, and vital signs in patients undergoing endoscopy. ⋯ Relaxation exercise performed with virtual reality glasses has positive effects on mean systolic and diastolic blood pressure values, heart rate and respiratory rate in patients undergoing endoscopy. In line with these results, it is recommended that the use of virtual reality glasses during endoscopy should be widespread by nurses.
