The effectiveness of hypnosis-based pain management is well-established. However, mechanisms of action and specific effective components are not well understood. The sociocognitive theory of hypnosis proposes that the effectiveness of hypnosis for pain management is determined by the nonspecific features of response expectancy and context. ⋯ PERSPECTIVE: This study assessed the necessary effective components of hypnosis-based analgesia interventions. Our findings suggest that procedural features such as suggestions for focused attention, relaxation, and deepening may not be necessary for hypnoanalgesia as long as pain relief suggestions are present, and the hypnosis context and response expectancy are established. This study aims to examine the complex nature of opioid use disorder (OUD) in chronic noncancer pain (CNCP) by exploring its antecedents, attributes, consequences, and interrelated concepts. ⋯ Implementing policy recommendations derived from this study enhances care and outcomes for individuals with CNCP. By addressing complex issues of OUD in CNCP and adopting evidence-based practices, healthcare providers can optimize pain management and promote well-being in CNCP patients.

Multicenter StudyCeliac plexus radiosurgery for pain management in advanced cancer: a multicentre, single-arm, phase 2 trial.
Refractory upper abdominal pain or lower back pain (retroperitoneal pain syndrome) related to celiac plexus involvement characterises pancreatic and other upper gastrointestinal malignancies and is an unmet need. Feasibility of In-Home Virtual Reality for Chronic Pain in Sickle Cell Disease.
This study assessed the feasibility of an in-home virtual reality intervention for chronic pain in adults with sickle cell disease. ⋯ The first known application of in-home virtual reality for chronic pain in adults with sickle cell disease was successful. Findings can inform future in-home investigations of virtual reality in this underserved population.
