Clinical impact of vivax malaria: A collection review.
Plasmodium vivax infects an estimated 7 million people every year. Previously, vivax malaria was perceived as a benign condition, particularly when compared to falciparum malaria. Reports of the severe clinical impacts of vivax malaria have been increasing over the last decade. ⋯ Young children and pregnant women are particularly vulnerable to adverse clinical impacts of vivax malaria, and preventing infections and relapse in this groups is a priority. Substantial evidence of severe presentations of vivax malaria has accrued over the last 10 years, but reporting is inconsistent. There are major knowledge gaps, for example, limited understanding of the underlying pathophysiology and the reason for the heterogenous geographical distribution of reported complications. An adapted case definition of severe vivax malaria would facilitate surveillance and future research to better understand this condition.

Review Meta AnalysisA Network Meta-Analysis of Two Doses of Recombinant Human Thrombopoietin for Treating Sepsis-Related Thrombocytopenia.
Previous studies suggest that sepsis remains a common critical illness with a global incidence of 31.5 million. The aim of this study was to evaluate the comparative therapeutic value of recombinant human thrombopoietin (rhTPO) in treating sepsis patients with thrombocytopenia. We conducted a comprehensive electronic search of PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, and CNKI from its inception through December 31, 2021. ⋯ SUCRA showed that rhTPO 300 U/kg/day ranked first in terms of 28-day mortality (85.5%) and transfusion, including RBC (88.7%), plasma (89.6%), and PLT (95.2%), while rhTPO 15000 U/day ranked first for the length of the intensive care unit (ICU) stay (95.9%) and PLT level at day 7 (91.6%). rhTPO 300 U/kg/day may be the optimal dose to reduce 28-day mortality and transfusion requirements. However, rhTPO 15000 U/day may be the optimal dose for shortening the ICU stay and increasing the PLT level on the 7th day. However, additional studies to further validate our findings are needed.

Hepatitis D virus dual infection increased the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma compared with hepatitis B virus mono infection: A meta-analysis.
Hepatitis delta virus (HDV) is a defective virus that relies on the supply of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) from hepatitis B virus (HBV) to assemble HDV virions and infect hepatocytes. However, controversy remains in whether the presence of HDV increases the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Our aim is to evaluate the influence of HDV on the risk of HCC through a systematic review and meta-analysis. ⋯ HDV and HBV dual infection significantly increase the risk of HCC development compared with HBV monoinfection.

Meta AnalysisLower Blood Lipid Level Is Associated with the Occurrence of Parkinson's Disease: A Meta-Analysis and Systematic Review.
The changes of blood lipid levels in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) and its clinical relevance remain unclear. We aimed to evaluate the potential association of blood lipid and the occurrence of PD, to provide evidence to the clinical treatment and nursing care of PD. ⋯ Lower blood TC, TG, HDL-C, and LDL-C level are associated with the occurrence of PD. Limited by sample size and study population, further high-quality, large-sample clinical trials in different areas are needed to further determine the relationship between blood lipids and PD in the future.

Valid assessment of drug efficacy and safety requires an evidence base free of reporting bias. Using trial reports in Food and Drug Administration (FDA) drug approval packages as a gold standard, we previously found that the published literature inflated the apparent efficacy of antidepressant drugs. The objective of the current study was to determine whether this has improved with recently approved drugs. ⋯ Reporting bias persists but appears to have diminished for newer, compared to older, antidepressants. Continued efforts are needed to further improve transparency in the scientific literature.
