Prevalence of misdiagnosis of cellulitis: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
There is no gold standard test to accurately identify patients with cellulitis and therefore misdiagnosis is common. Using the clinical impression of a dermatology or an infectious disease specialist as a reference standard, we sought to determine the prevalence of misdiagnosis of cellulitis among nonspecialist physicians. ⋯ Cellulitis is commonly misdiagnosed among inpatients, leading to unnecessary hospital admissions and antibiotic overuse. Most alternative diagnoses are noninfectious. Continuing medical education among general practitioners and urgent care providers will likely reduce cellulitis misdiagnoses.

Prevalence and natural history of depression after stroke: A systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies.
Depression is the most frequent psychiatric condition after stroke and is associated with negative health outcomes. We aim to undertake a systematic review and meta-analysis of the prevalence and natural history of depression after stroke. ⋯ In this study, we observed that stroke survivors with early-onset depression (within 3 months after stroke) are at high risks for remaining depressed and make up two-thirds of the incident cases during 1 year after stroke. This highlights the need for ongoing clinical monitoring of patients depressed shortly after stroke.

The most common tubal disease leading to infertility occurs in the distal region, manifesting as hydrosalpinx. Tubal surgery is an effective alternative treatment. However, subpopulations that benefit the most from tubal repair surgery remain unclear. The objective of this study was to investigate the natural pregnancy outcomes of patients with hydrosalpinx after reproductive surgery and those with different grades of hydrosalpinx. ⋯ Patients with mild to moderate hydrosalpinx will benefit more from reproductive surgery to improve natural pregnancy outcomes. However, the small sample size in our study needs to be further expanded, and the grouping needs to be more refined, such as grouping based on age. This may provide more guidance in clinical practice.
