To perform a systematic review and network meta-analysis to compare the survival benefit and safety profile of current available second-line treatment options of metastatic renal cell carcinomav. ⋯ Among all included therapies, Lenvatinib plus everolimus was identified as the most effective treatment approach, with the best PFS, OS, and ORR. nivolumab was associated with decreased incidence of grade 3 to 4 AEs among included treatment therapies. When comprehensively evaluated the efficacy and safety of included treatment options, lenvatinib plus everolimus, cabozantinb, and nivolumab were associated with better survival benefits and lower risk of AEs. Future studies should focus on the direct comparison of different second-line treatment in real-world populations.

Hypoalbuminemia is associated with fluid overload, the development of acute respiratory distress syndrome, and mortality. The co-administration of albumin and diuretics for the treatment of patients with hypoalbuminemia is expected to increase urine output, without hemodynamic instability, and improve pulmonary function; however, these effects have not been systematically investigated. Here, we aimed to clarify the benefits of the co-administration of albumin and diuretics in mechanically ventilated patients. ⋯ Although this treatment combination reduced the number of days for which mechanical ventilation was required, it did not reduce the all-cause mortality at 30 days. In conclusion, the co-administration of albumin and diuretics may reduce hypotensive events and improve the P/F ratio at 24 hours.

A meta-analysis was performed to evaluate the effect of acupoint herbal patching as an add-on to asthma medication during Sanfu days, as the hottest days in summer, on the acute attack, immunological response, and the pulmonary function in asthmatic children. ⋯ Acupoint herbal patching as an add-on to asthma medication during Sanfu days had a significantly lower frequency of acute attack, lower asthma relapse, higher forced expiratory volume in 1 second, higher peak expiratory flow rate, and higher interferon-gamma after treatment in asthmatic children compared to asthma medication only in asthmatic children.

Review Meta AnalysisInterventions for increasing immunosuppressant medication adherence in solid organ transplant recipients.
Non-adherence to immunosuppressant therapy is a significant concern following a solid organ transplant, given its association with graft failure. Adherence to immunosuppressant therapy is a modifiable patient behaviour, and different approaches to increasing adherence have emerged, including multi-component interventions. There has been limited exploration of the effectiveness of interventions to increase adherence to immunosuppressant therapy. ⋯ Interventions to increase taking and dosing adherence to immunosuppressant therapy may be effective; however, our findings suggest that current evidence in support of interventions to increase adherence to immunosuppressant therapy is overall of low methodological quality, attributable to small sample sizes, and heterogeneity identified for the types of interventions. Twenty-four studies are currently ongoing or awaiting assessment (3248 proposed participants); therefore, it is possible that findings may change with the inclusion of these large ongoing studies in future updates.

SGLT-2 inhibitors in patients with heart failure: a comprehensive meta-analysis of five randomised controlled trials.
SGLT2 inhibitors are strongly recommended in guidelines to treat patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, but their clinical benefits at higher ejection fractions are less well established. Two large-scale trials, DELIVER and EMPEROR-Preserved, in heart failure with mildly reduced or preserved ejection fraction have been done, providing power to examine therapeutic effects on cardiovascular mortality and in patient subgroups when combined with the earlier trials in reduced ejection fraction. ⋯ None.
