To characterize the CT and MR imaging findings of patients with sinonasal angiomatous polyps (SAPs) and evaluate their respective clinical value in the diagnosis of SAP. ⋯ CT and MR imaging have respective advantages in the diagnosis of SAP. Combined application of CT and MR examinations is necessary for patients with suspected SAP.

Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor: an entity of CT and MR imaging to differentiate from malignant tumors of the sinonasal cavity.
Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) is chronic inflammatory lesions of unknown origins. The preoperative diagnosis for tumors in the sinonasal cavity is difficult to distinguish between IMT and aggressive malignancy in most cases. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the imaging features of IMT distinguishing the 2 types of tumors. ⋯ Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor and aggressive malignancy have some different imaging features that could be helpful in the differentiation between the lesions. Bone erosion with sclerosis, calcification when present, typically homogenous and never hyperintense of T2 appearance, and mild enhancement played an important role in differentiating sinonasal IMT from malignancies.

Feasibility and value of quantitative dynamic contrast enhancement MR imaging in the evaluation of sinonasal tumors.
Quantitative dynamic contrast enhancement MR imaging (DCE-MRI), used to measure properties of tissue microvasculature and tumor angiogenesis, is a promising method for distinguishing benign and malignant tumors and characterizing tumor response to antiangiogenic treatment. The aim of this study was to assess the feasibility of quantitative parameters derived from clinically used DCE-MRI for distinguishing benign from malignant tumors in the sinonasal area, which may be potentially useful for prediction and monitoring of treatment response to chemoradiotherapy of sinonasal tumors. ⋯ It is feasible that quantitative parameters of tumors can be derived from clinically used DCE-MRI in the sinonasal region. Preliminary findings suggest an increased value for quantitative DCE-MRI in the evaluation of sinonasal tumors in clinical practice.

Desmoplastic small round cell tumor (DSRCT) is a rare malignancy with poor prognosis that generally involves the peritoneum. Only rare cases occur outside the abdomen. ⋯ The DSRCT diagnosis was confirmed by the presence of a polyphenotypic immunoprofile (positive for cytokeratin, desmin, and neuronspecific enolase) and the characteristic EWS-WT1 gene fusion resulting from the t(11;22)(p13;q12) reciprocal translocation. This reported case of DSRCT draws attention to the importance of including DSRCT in the differential diagnosis of sinonasal tumors.

Unilateral non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the frontal sinus presenting as Pott's puffy tumour.
Malignant lymphoma of the paranasal sinuses and nasal cavity is very rare and can mimic those of infectious, non-lymphomatous neoplastic and granulomatous process in their initial presentation, thus delaying its diagnosis. This report describes a case of unilateral frontal sinus B-cell lymphoma presenting as Pott's puffy tumour. Key features to differentiate the two conditions are discussed. ⋯ The patient was treated successfully with 6 cycles of chemotherapy. In conclusion, it is not easy to differentiate Pott's puffy tumour from frontal sinus lymphoma at their initial presentation. With clearer understanding of both conditions, we can raise the index of suspicion among clinicians of the possibility of frontal sinus lymphoma even when evidence of osteomyelitis is present, therefore prompting earlier tissue biopsies for confirmation of diagnosis.
