Multicenter StudyPrevalence and Time Course of Thiamine Deficiency in Critically Ill Children: A Multicenter, Prospective Cohort Study in Turkey.
To determine the prevalence and time course of thiamine deficiency (TD) in PICU patients. ⋯ In the PICU population in three centers in Turkey, the prevalence of TD in the sample of patients was 11.1%. In those TD patients who had serial studies, we also identified that by day 3 some continued to be TD, and some patients improved to normal thiamine status. Of concern, however, is the population who develop TD over the course of PICU stay.

Effect of High-Flow Nasal Cannula Therapy vs Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Following Extubation on Liberation From Respiratory Support in Critically Ill Children: A Randomized Clinical Trial.
The optimal first-line mode of noninvasive respiratory support following extubation of critically ill children is not known. ⋯ Among critically ill children requiring noninvasive respiratory support following extubation, HFNC compared with CPAP following extubation failed to meet the criterion for noninferiority for time to liberation from respiratory support.

Effect of Antiplatelet Therapy on Survival and Organ Support-Free Days in Critically Ill Patients With COVID-19: A Randomized Clinical Trial.
The efficacy of antiplatelet therapy in critically ill patients with COVID-19 is uncertain. ⋯ Among critically ill patients with COVID-19, treatment with an antiplatelet agent, compared with no antiplatelet agent, had a low likelihood of providing improvement in the number of organ support-free days within 21 days.

Multicenter Study Observational Study
ABO and RhD blood group are not associated with mortality and morbidity in critically ill patients; a multicentre observational study of 29 512 patients.
The ABO and RhD blood group represent antigens on the surface of erythrocytes. The ABO blood group antigens are also present on multiple other cells. Interestingly, previous studies have demonstrated associations between the blood group and many types of disease. The present study aimed to identifying associations between the ABO blood group, the RhD blood group, and morbidity and mortality in a mixed cohort and in six pre-defined subgroups of critically ill patients. ⋯ The ABO and RhD blood group do not influence mortality or morbidity in a general critically ill patient population.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyThe Impact on 30-Day Mortality From a Brief Focused Ultrasound-Guided Management Protocol Immediately Before Emergency Noncardiac Surgery in Critically Ill Patients: A Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial.
To determine whether brief ultrasound-guided treatment of hemodynamic shock and respiratory failure immediately before emergency noncardiac surgery reduced 30-day mortality. ⋯ In critically ill patients with hemodynamic shock or respiratory failure, a focused ultrasound-guided management did not reduce 30-day mortality but led to frequent changes in diagnosis and patient management.
