Randomized Controlled TrialClinical research of Olanzapine for prevention of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting.
This study was designed to mainly evaluate the activity and safety of olanzapine compared with 5-hydroxytryptamine 3(5-HT3) receptor antagonists for prevention of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting(CINV) in patients receiving highly or moderately emetogenic chemotherapy (HEC or MEC). The second goal was to evaluate the impact of olanzapine on quality of life (QoL) of cancer patients during the period of chemotherapy. ⋯ Olanzapine can improve the complete response of delayed nausea and vomiting in patients receiving the highly or moderately emetogenic chemotherapy comparing with the standard therapy of antiemesis, as well as improve the QoL of the cancer patients during chemotherapy administration. Olanzapine is a safe and efficient drug for prevention of CINV.

Postoperative analgosedation with S(+)-ketamine decreases the incidences of postanesthetic shivering and nausea and vomiting after cardiac surgery.
Along with postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV), postanesthetic shivering (PAS) is one of the leading causes of distress postoperatively. Previous studies report on a decrease in incidence of PAS due to ketamine administration; however, the S(+) isomer of ketamine has not been evaluated before. Additionally the administration of ketamine minimizes the use of opioids, one of the most important risk factor of PONV. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the efficacy of S(+)-ketamine in the prophylaxis of both PAS and PONV in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. ⋯ S(+)-ketamine reduced both postanesthetic shivering and postoperative nausea and vomiting, when administered for postoperative analgosedation.

Randomized Controlled TrialMagnetic acupressure for management of postoperative nausea and vomiting: a preliminary study.
To assess the efficacy of magnetic acupressure in the prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV). ⋯ The use of magnetic acupressure as a prophylactic antiemetic treatment prior to ENT or gynaecology surgeries produced no benefit when compared to placebo.

Effectiveness of auricular acupressure in the treatment of nausea and vomiting in early pregnancy.
To evaluate the effectiveness of auricular acupressure in the treatment of nausea and vomiting in early pregnancy. ⋯ Auricular acupressure therapy in treatment of nausea and vomiting in early pregnancy may not relieve nausea and vomiting in early pregnancy and need further clinical research to confirm the effectiveness.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyAcupuncture to alleviate chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting in pediatric oncology - a randomized multicenter crossover pilot trial.
We investigated whether acupuncture as a supportive antiemetic approach reduces the need for antiemetic rescue medication during highly emetogenic chemotherapy in pediatric oncology. We report on a multicenter crossover study at 5 tertiary hospitals in Germany. ⋯ Acupuncture as applied here seems to be effective in preventing nausea and vomiting in pediatric cancer patients.
