Randomized Controlled TrialA double-blind, crossover, randomized dose-comparison trial of granisetron for the prevention of acute and delayed nausea and emesis in children receiving moderately emetogenic carboplatin-based chemotherapy.
Granisetron is a safe and effective prophylaxis for nausea and vomiting associated with moderate to highly emetogenic chemotherapy. Few trials have been conducted to determine the optimal effective dose of granisetron in children with cancer. The objective of this report was to compare two doses of granisetron in patients with optic pathway tumors receiving moderately emetogenic doses of carboplatin. ⋯ We conclude that granisetron 10 and 40 microg/kg have comparable efficacy in controlling carboplatin-induced acute and delayed nausea/emesis and is well tolerated in children and young adults.

Randomized Controlled TrialAcupressure and vitamin B6 to relieve nausea and vomiting in pregnancy: a randomized study.
To compare the effectiveness of acupressure and vitamin B6 in the outpatient treatment of nausea and vomiting in early pregnancy. ⋯ Acupressure therapy is not more effective than vitamin B6 in reducing nausea and vomiting in symptomatic women in the first trimester of pregnancy.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyAcupressure for chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting: a randomized clinical trial.
To compare differences in the chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) among three groups of women (acupressure, placebo acupressure, and usual care) undergoing chemo-therapy for breast cancer. ⋯ Acupressure is a safe and effective tool for managing delayed CINV and should be offered to women undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer.

Randomized Controlled TrialPreemptive sub-Tenon's anesthesia for pars plana vitrectomy under general anesthesia: is it effective?
To determine whether irrigation of the sub-Tenon's space with anesthetic agents during pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) involving general anesthesia decreases postoperative pain, analgesic use, or nausea. ⋯ Local blockade prior to surgery in patients undergoing PPV under general anesthesia does not significantly decrease postoperative pain, analgesic use, or nausea.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyRandomized, double-blind trial comparing the antiemetic effect of tropisetron plus metopimazine with tropisetron plus placebo in patients receiving multiple cycles of multiple-day cisplatin-based chemotherapy.
To compare the antiemetic efficacy and tolerability of tropisetron plus metopimazine with tropisetron plus placebo during 4 cycles of multiple-day, cisplatin-based chemotherapy. ⋯ Tropisetron plus metopimazine is superior to tropisetron during 4 cycles of multiple-day cisplatin-based chemotherapy, but both treatments are ineffective in a number of patients. The effect of the combination seems comparable to that of ondansetron plus dexamethasone. Newer drugs such as the neurokinin(1) receptor antagonist, aprepitant, should be investigated to optimize antiemetic therapy in patients receiving multiple-day chemotherapy.
