Antiseizure medications (ASMs) are frequently used for other indications, such as migraine, pain syndromes, and psychiatric disorders. Possible teratogenic effects are therefore of wide concern and the risks imposed by the medications must be weighed against the risk with the disorder treated. It is our objective to update family practitioners on the implications of starting ASM for women with epilepsy during childbearing age. We hypothesized that clinicians would prescribe ASM based on avoiding teratogenesis and treating associated comorbidities simultaneously. ⋯ The presence of medical comorbidities influences the selection of ASM. VPAs use in WVWE during childbearing age continues, despite the high teratogenic risk, especially in women with bipolar disorder and headaches. Multidisciplinary care integrating family practice doctors, mental health, and neurology can prevent the enduring problem of teratogenesis in women taking ASM.

Research has linked high occupational demands to multiple adverse health outcomes, both physical and mental. As far as we know, researchers have not identified the profile characteristics of military police personnel based on occupational demands. The current study aims to identify profiles based on self-perceived occupational demands and work-related factors. This study is a starting point for characterizing performance and health in a military police population. ⋯ We established two distinct profiles that describe the characteristics reported by the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee personnel based on workload and work characteristics. High scores on autonomy, work support, and task clarity predict favorable perceived occupational demands, whereas fatigue and boredom predict unfavorable occupational demands. Remarkably, the physical workload did not predict high perceived occupational demands.

Low back pain (LBP) is highly prevalent after lower limb amputation (LLA). Reports describing longitudinal changes in spine health before and after amputation are rare. This study describes lumbar spine pathology, muscle morphology, and the continuum of care for LBP before and after LLA. ⋯ Lumbar spine health may degrade after amputation. Here, lumbar muscle size did not change after LLA, yet the fat content increased in combination with increases in facet and intervertebral disc degeneration.

Burnout is a psychological condition that has a detrimental effect on occupational and mental health. The military is a known community that is vulnerable to burnout. Burnout risk may have increased over the past 10 years due to the accumulation of recognized burnout correlates in the Sri Lankan military context. Sri Lanka Army is acknowledged as the country's main defense force to combat any impending threat. Therefore, it is crucial to recognize and control mental health issues like burnout. This study aims to describe the prevalence and distribution of recognized factors associated with burnout among Sri Lankan Army soldiers. ⋯ High prevalence and high density of known associated factors of burnout would adversely influence the achievement of organizational goals of Sri Lanka Army. Early attention and proper action are strongly recommended.

This evaluation examined the role of safety plans, one of a host of clinical suicide prevention interventions available for veterans through the United States Department of Veterans Affairs' national network of health care facilities managed by the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). ⋯ Safety planning is a critical component in suicide prevention within VHA. However, future research is needed to ensure safety plans are accessible, implemented, and useful to veterans when in crisis.
