AimTo review the outcome of preterm neonates treated with iNO.MethodsThe neonatal electronic database was reviewed between April 1, 2009 and March 31, 2014.ResultsIn the five-year period, 142 babies were treated with iNO. Forty-two preterm neonates <34(+0) weeks were included in this review. During this period, the use of iNO in preterm neonates <26(+0) weeks rose from 1.4% to 4.8% and the mortality was significantly higher in this group (69%).ConclusionThere is an increasing trend in using iNO as a rescue treatment in preterm neonates. The outcomes were very poor in the preterm neonates <26(+0) weeks. A cautious approach is warranted in the absence of robust evidence to support the use of iNO, in preterm neonates <26(+0) weeks.©2015 Foundation Acta Paediatrica. Published by John Wiley & Sons Ltd.
