    AbstractDr. George W. Smith is credited with developing the Smith-Robinson procedure, the automatic drill, the vessel-encircling aneurysm clip, and treatment of tic douloureux with stilbamidine. His contributions to neurosurgery were unfortunately truncated by his untimely death. This article highlights his career and his contributions.
