    AbstractThe signaling pathway that regulates glucose-stimulated insulin secretion depends on glucose metabolism, which is itself controlled by glucokinase. In a recent issue of Cell, show that altering N-glycosylation of the GLUT2 glucose transporter prevents its anchoring and retention at the cell surface; this impairs glucose uptake and insulin secretion.
