AbstractThe value of geriatric assessments The ASCO guideline for Geriatric Oncology recommends submitting older patients with cancer to a geriatric assessment. Although we recognise the importance of awareness of geriatric problems in older patients with cancer, this approach where two different doctors are treating the same patient is not ideal for several reasons. We therefore recommend educating medical oncologists on geriatric problems, aging and different treatment goals.
