AbstractA novel concept of cardiopulmonary-cerebral resuscitation (CPCR) has been proposed, in which a combination of technologies of the membrane artificial lung, mild hypothermia, centrifugal blood pump, heparin coated surfaces and blood shunting have been used. The present paper introduces the modern conception, history of CPCR, with emphasis on the brain(cerebral) resuscitation. Importance of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, mild hypothermia and centrifugal blood pump in cerebral resuscitation has been emphasized.
