AbstractMitral valve injury from blunt trauma to the chest is an uncommon entity. We report a case of mitral valve injury after a fall, and its repair. The English literature is reviewed from the earliest report in 1873 to the present. The diagnosis, types of injury and surgical correction are discussed.
