AbstractDue to the increasing knowledge on neuroplasticity and due to the unsatisfactory outcomes from behavioristic treatment alone interventional pain management is again becoming interesting. Interventional diagnostic procedures can determine the origin of pain in respect to anatomical structures and might differentiate the qualities of pain. Thus guidelines can be developed for either conservative-pharmacological, interventional or cognitive-behavioristic treatment. Interventional diagnostic and therapeutic procedures have to be made precisely, using imaging techniques with contrast media and have to be well documented.
