ObjectiveTo evaluate the curative effect of posterior pedicle screw fixation with vertebroplasty for thoracolumbar fractures in the aged.MethodsSeventeen patients with thoracolumbar fractures were operated by posterior transpedicular internal fixation combined with vertebroplasty. The patients were followed up with radiological assessment and Visual Analogue Scale.ResultsAll patients were followed up for 6 approximately 33 months after the operation. No instrument looseness or breakage was found. The lost height of anterior border in the injured vertebra was less than 2 mm.ConclusionThe combination of posterior transpedicular internal fixation system and vertebroplasty is a feasible and effective method for thoracolumbar fractures in the aged.
