    AbstractTransient back pain is not uncommon during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Following an epidural anesthetic, back pain persisted in a postpartum patient beyond the expected period of soreness. Further diagnostic evaluation led to diagnosis and surgical decompression of a herniated thoracic disc.
