Multicenter StudyAnesthetic management of amniotic fluid embolism -- a multi-center, retrospective, cohort study.
Amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) is a rare and potentially lethal obstetric complication, commonly occurring during labor, delivery, or immediately postpartum. There is a paucity of data regarding incidence, risk factors, and clinical management. Our primary objective in this study was to evaluate clinical presentation of AFE and delineate anesthesia management of these cases. ⋯ AFE is associated with significant maternal morbidity. This study highlights the importance of providing advanced training for the delivery suite staff for cases of maternal cardiovascular collapse secondary to AFE and increasing awareness for this rare and devastating obstetric condition.

Multicenter StudyAnesthesia management of complete versus incomplete placenta previa: a retrospective cohort study.
Placenta previa (PP) is a major cause of obstetric hemorrhage. Clinical diagnosis of complete versus incomplete PP has a significant impact on the peripartum outcome. Our study objective is to examine whether distinction between PP classifications effect anesthetic management. ⋯ Complete PP is associated with increased risk of hemorrhage compared with incomplete PP. Therefore distinction between classifications should be factored into anesthetic management protocols.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyRisk of neonatal and childhood morbidity among preterm infants exposed to marijuana.
Limited data exist regarding the neonatal and neurodevelopmental outcomes of infants exposed to marijuana (MJ) in-utero, particularly among preterm infants. We hypothesized that MJ-exposed preterm infants would have worse neonatal and childhood developmental outcomes compared to MJ-unexposed infants. ⋯ Among infants born <35 weeks of gestation, MJ-exposure was not associated with adverse neonatal or childhood outcomes. Long-term follow-up studies are needed to assess later childhood neurodevelopmental outcomes following MJ-exposure.

Multicenter StudyFetal intracranial hemorrhage: sonographic criteria and merits of prenatal diagnosis.
To determine the sonographic criteria for diagnosis of fetal intracranial hemorrhage (ICH), using both gray scale ultrasound, and tomographic ultrasound imaging (TUI). ⋯ Ultrasonography can be used in the detection, classification and monitoring the progression of various types of ICH. TUI is an additional diagnostic tool that might help to detect the exact size, and extent of those lesions. Fetal MRI is not superior, but might aid in the diagnosis.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyMyo-inositol may prevent gestational diabetes onset in overweight women: a randomized, controlled trial.
To evaluate whether myo-inositol supplementation may reduce gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) rate in overweight women. ⋯ Myo-inositol supplementation, administered since early pregnancy, reduces GDM incidence in overweight non-obese women.
