Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyMicrodecompressive laminatomy with a 5-year follow-up period for severe lumbar spinal stenosis.
The 2 groups of patients with severe lumbar spinal stenosis were prospectively compared as a case control study. ⋯ Compared with classic approaches, bilateral MDL provides adequate and safe decompression in lumbar spinal stenosis. It significantly reduces clinical symptoms and disability. However, TL shows higher perioperative complications and postoperative instability. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to define a bilateral MDL approach to treat the stenotic lumbar spine without a herniated disc.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative StudyLower incidence of dysphagia with cervical arthroplasty compared with ACDF in a prospective randomized clinical trial.
The current study of 251 consecutive 1-level anterior cervical reconstructions was undertaken to compare the incidence of dysphagia between cervical disk replacement and conventional anterior cervical fusion and instrumentation. ⋯ In a prospective randomized clinical study the incidence of postoperative dysphagia and the long-term resolution of the dysphagia was greatly improved in the PCM group compared with the instrumented ACDF control group.

Randomized Controlled TrialTumor necrosis alpha-blocking agent (etanercept): a triple blind randomized controlled trial of its use in treatment of sciatica.
Triple blind randomized controlled study. ⋯ Small numbers of trial participants limited statistical analysis. The trend appears to show no benefit to the use of etanercept over placebo in the pharmacologic treatment of sciatica.

Randomized Controlled TrialThe use of screw at the fracture level in the treatment of thoracolumbar burst fractures.
In this prospective randomized study, the results of treating unstable thoracolumbar burst fractures by pedicle instrumentation with and without fracture level screw combination were given. ⋯ Reinforcement with fracture level screw combination can help to provide better kyphosis correction and offers immediate spinal stability in patients with thoracolumbar burst fracture.

Randomized Controlled TrialCoronal and sagittal plane correction in patients with Lenke 1 adolescent idiopathic scoliosis: a comparison of consecutive versus interval pedicle screw placement.
Prospective clinical study. ⋯ Interval pedicle screw placement constructs seem to be equally effective as consecutive constructs for facilitating curve correction in patients with Lenke 1 AIS.
