Review Meta Analysis Comparative StudyComparison of Posterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion Versus Posterolateral Fusion for the Treatment of Isthmic Spondylolisthesis.
Systematic review and meta-analysis. ⋯ In conclusion, our meta-analysis suggested that PLF shows significant lower fusion rate compared with PLIF. Although PLIF had more operation time than PLF, there was no significant difference in global assessment of clinical outcome between the 2 fusion procedures. However, future well-designed, randomized-controlled trials are still needed to further confirm our results.

Meta Analysis Comparative StudyImproved Accuracy of Minimally Invasive Transpedicular Screw Placement in the Lumbar Spine With 3-Dimensional Stereotactic Image Guidance: A Comparative Meta-Analysis.
This study compares the accuracy rates of lumbar percutaneous pedicle screw placement (PPSP) using either 2-dimensional (2-D) fluoroscopic guidance or 3-dimensional (3-D) stereotactic navigation in the setting of minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS). This represents the largest single-operator study of its kind and first comprehensive review of 3-D stereotactic navigation in the setting of MISS. ⋯ Three-dimensional stereotactic navigation based upon intraoperative computed tomography imaging offers markedly improved accuracy of percutaneous lumbar pedicle screw placement when used in the setting of MISS.

Review Meta Analysis Comparative StudyComparison of Anterior Decompression and Fusion With Posterior Laminoplasty for Multilevel Cervical Compressive Myelopathy: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
Systematic review and meta-analysis. ⋯ On the basis of this meta-analysis, anterior decompression and fusion is associated with better recovery of neurological function, better postoperative cervical alignment, higher postoperative complication and reoperation rates, more blood loss, and longer operative times compared with posterior laminoplasty.

Review Meta Analysis Comparative StudyMeta-analysis of circumferential fusion versus posterolateral fusion in lumbar spondylolisthesis.
Literature review and meta-analysis. ⋯ There was really no difference for clinical satisfaction, complication rate, fusion rate, reoperation rate, operating time, and blood loss. PLF can reduce complication rate and operating time. CF can improve fusion rate for individuals with isthmic spondylolisthesis and restore lumbar alignment. The level of evidence was low.

Review Meta Analysis Comparative StudyLumbar fusion versus nonoperative management for treatment of discogenic low back pain: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
Systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs). ⋯ Despite the significant improvement in ODI in the lumbar fusion groups in 3 studies, pooled data revealed no significant difference when compared with the nonoperative group. Although there was an overall improvement of 7.39 points in the ODI in favor of lumbar fusion, it is unclear that this change in ODI would lead to a clinically significant difference. Prospective randomized trials comparing a specific surgical technique versus a structured physical therapy program may improve evidence quality. Until then, either operative intervention by lumbar fusion or nonoperative management and physical therapy remain 2 acceptable treatment methods for intractable low back pain.
