The aim of this article is to summarize published information on systemic infective complications of tattoos to gain an update of the current picture. ⋯ Bacterial bloodstream infections should be considered in subjects developing fever and rigour after tattoos, regardless of local symptoms. A shift in causative organisms has been documented, when comparing with historical reports. NTM are emerging organisms causing lymphadenopathy. Strict hygiene conditions are essential when performing a tattoo.

To assess whether a sustained optimal haemoglobin value in the 3 months after admission for heart failure (HF) decompensation reduces morbidity and mortality during the 12 months after admission for acute HF. ⋯ Persistent anaemia in the months after admission for HF increases morbidity and mortality in the subsequent year.
