Effect of obesity on mood regulation and eating attitudes in mental disorders.
The precise relationship between obesity and eating habits, attitudes, and emotion regulation is still ambiguous. The purpose of this study was to investigate possible correlations among body mass index, challenges related to managing emotions, and attitudes toward eating among adult participants with known psychiatric diagnoses. ⋯ While a partial and meaningful correlation was observed among body mass index, eating attitudes, and emotion regulation difficulties, it is suggested that factors such as patients' age, disease duration, current body mass index, and the simultaneous presence of depression and anxiety should be considered.

Coexistence of Hashimoto's thyroiditis and papillary thyroid carcinoma revisited in thyroidology, an experience from an endemic region: fad or future?
Papillary thyroid carcinoma, per se, is the most common type of thyroid cancer, and Hashimoto's thyroiditis is the most frequent autoimmune disease of the papillon gland. The liaison between Hashimoto's thyroiditis and thyroid cancers is still an ongoing debate in thyroidology. The aim of the study was to discuss the frequency of the co-occurrence of Hashimoto's thyroiditis and papillary thyroid carcinoma. ⋯ A debate still remains on the propriety of these two phenomena. Herewith, we recognized a correlation between the presence of papillary thyroid carcinoma and Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Providers should be vigilant about the coexistence of these phenomena. We might postulate the so-called total thyroidectomy for cases with a cytologic diagnosis of Hashimoto's thyroiditis with a papillary thyroid carcinoma. As a matter of fact, this issue merits further investigation.

Evaluation of mucin-1, nuclear factor κB, and hemoglobin A1c levels in obese and non-obese individuals.
Obesity is a chronic multisystem disease associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Obesity, which is a complex, multifactorial, and heterogeneous condition, is thought to result from the interaction of environmental, physiological, and genetic factors. In this study, the relationship between serum levels of hemoglobin A1c, mucin-1, and nuclear factor κB in obese and healthy cohorts was evaluated along with biochemical and gene expressions and with demographic and clinical covariates, and their effects on obesity were evaluated. ⋯ In addition to the known association of hemoglobin A1c and nuclear factor κB with obesity, serum levels of mucin-1 as well as upregulation of genes point to its modifier effect on obesity. These parameters can be the powerful markers in the diagnosis of obesity.

Autoimmunity-related LINC01934 and AP002954.4 lncRNA polymorphisms may be effective in pediatric celiac disease: a case-control study.
Various studies have reported that certain long non-coding RNA levels are unusually low in the intestines of celiac disease patients, suggesting that this may be associated with the inflammation observed in celiac disease. Despite these studies, the research aimed at uncovering the potential role of long non-coding RNAs in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases like celiac disease remains insufficient. Therefore, in this study, we plan to assess long non-coding RNA polymorphisms associated with autoimmunity in children diagnosed with celiac disease according to the European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition criteria. ⋯ Our study results draw attention to the LINC01934-rs1018326 and AP002954.4-rs10892258 polymorphisms in celiac disease and suggest that these polymorphisms may be associated with inflammation in autoimmune diseases like celiac disease.

Epidemiological of chronic kidney disease based on a database of health.
Chronic kidney disease has presented frequencies that exceed the installed capacity of dialysis services, and data on prevalence are uncertain worldwide. ⋯ Using secondary data from DATASUS to understand the population with chronic kidney disease and the assistance offered is possible.
