Is polycystic ovary syndrome a risk factor for depression and anxiety?: a cross-sectional study.
The objective of this study was to learn more about the prevalence and pathophysiology of depression and anxiety that may be caused by polycystic ovary syndrome and to make plans for taking necessary precautions for this vulnerable group. ⋯ It is clear that depression and anxiety are more common in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome than in healthy women. Our findings support previous recommendations regarding routine screening for depression and anxiety in this population.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the relationship between quality of life, perceived stress, anxiety, and depression in medical students and the university teaching method: traditional method versus active methodology. ⋯ Differences were recorded between the groups regarding anxiety, with a predominance in UNIT students (active methodology), and no differences were recorded in relation to depression, perceived stress, and quality of life in all domains, except for the environment domain, which was higher in the traditional methodology, although about one-third of participants used medication for anxiety/depression.

Assessment of serum granulysin and cathepsin-L levels in vitiligo patients.
Cellular and humoral immunity plays a role in the pathogenesis of vitiligo. T lymphocytes and natural killer cells involved in cellular immunity carry out their cytotoxic activities through perforin/granzyme-dependent granule exocytosis, in which granulysin and cathepsin-L are also involved. The aim of this study was to investigate the possible role of serum granulysin and cathepsin-L in the etiopathogenesis of vitiligo and their association with disease activity and severity. ⋯ Although granulysin and cathepsin-L are molecules involved in the pathogenesis of vitiligo, the use of these molecules may not be helpful in assessing disease activity and severity. It may be helpful to conduct comprehensive and prospective studies to find new molecules to fill the gap in this area.

Influencing factors of recurrence after pelvic organ prolapse surgery and construction of a nomogram risk prediction model.
Pelvic organ prolapse affects women's quality of life through symptoms such as vaginal laxity, urinary incontinence, defecation and sexual dysfunction, and pelvic pain. Given the challenges in managing recurrent cases, understanding risk factors and the effect of surgical choices on recurrence is vital for guiding clinical decisions. This study explores how uterine preservation influences postoperative recurrence and develops predictive models to aid in assessing recurrence risk. ⋯ Factors such as age, birth order, uterine preservation, and pelvic floor muscle strength impact postoperative pelvic organ prolapse recurrence. Older age, a higher number of deliveries, and reduced systolic pressure of class II muscle fibers are independent risk factors for pelvic organ prolapse recurrence after surgery.

Epidemiological analysis of congenital glaucoma: a national scenario.
Congenital glaucoma is a disease that involves increased intraocular pressure and can result in irreversible visual deterioration. The study of epidemiology allows the delineation of the characteristics associated with patients and specific risk factors. ⋯ Studies on the mechanisms of congenital glaucoma seek to improve knowledge about the disease. Epidemiological evaluation is essential for identifying demographic and clinical patterns of the disease.
