Local imaging to interpret tumor size in F18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/CT in lung cancers.
This study aimed to determine the thoracic and extra-thoracic extension of the disease in patients diagnosed with lung cancer and who had whole-body F18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/CT imaging and to investigate whether there is a relationship between tumor size and extrathoracic spread. ⋯ Positron emission tomography/CT may be more appropriate for cases with a nodule diameter of ≤20 mm. Performing local imaging in patients with a nodule diameter of ≤20 mm could reduce radiation exposure and save radiopharmaceuticals used in positron emission tomography/CT imaging.

Observational StudyCould signal peptide complement C1r/C1s, Uegf, and Bmp1, and epidermal growth factor-containing protein 1 be a therapeutic target in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia?
Determination of biomolecules that play a role in the etiopathogenesis of preeclampsia and their application as therapeutic targets may increase surveillance in this patient group. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between signal peptide complement C1r/C1s, Uegf, and Bmp1, and epidermal growth factor-containing protein 1, a marker of endothelial dysfunction and platelet activation, and the development of preeclampsia. ⋯ Signal peptide complement C1r/C1s, Uegf, and Bmp1, and epidermal growth factor-containing protein 1 is significantly elevated in pregnant women with preeclampsia compared with healthy controls.

The association of CYP11A1 gene polymorphisms with the polycystic ovary syndrome patients.
The objective of this study was to investigate the allele frequencies of polymorphisms in genes CYP11A1 rs4886595 and CYP11A1 rs4887139 that are responsible for the steroidogenesis mechanism in polycystic ovary syndrome patients and control females. ⋯ Future research ought to focus on elucidating the susceptible causes of polycystic ovary syndrome with a wide range of SNPs and more sample size. The genome-wide association studies in polycystic ovary syndrome patients of different origin will be important to identify candidate genes as well as proteins that are implied in polycystic ovary syndrome risk.

Tumor necrosis factor-alpha inhibitors may increase the need for fine-needle aspiration cytology in axial spondyloarthritis patients.
Tumor necrosis factor alpha inhibitors are frequently used in the treatment of axial spondyloarthritis. While tumor necrosis factor alpha is associated with some malignancies, studies on its effects on thyroid functions and thyroid nodules are limited. This study aimed to assess the effect of tumor necrosis factor alpha inhibitors treatments on the evaluation of thyroid nodules and thyroid function tests in axial spondyloarthritis patients. ⋯ The number of nodules requiring fine-needle aspiration cytology according to the European Thyroid Association - Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System classification seems higher in nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs users than Tumor necrosis factor-alpha inhibitor users. Therefore, it may be rational to examine the thyroid gland while administering Tumor necrosis factor-alpha inhibitor treatment in axial spondyloarthritis patients.

Robotic sentinel lymph node dissection experiences in endometrial cancer at our tertiary cancer treatment institution.
In endometrial cancer surgery, sentinel lymph node dissection is used instead of staging surgery, particularly in advanced disease that is limited to the uterus. The aim of this study is to evaluate our practice of robotic sentinel lymph node dissection, which is applied to endometrial cancer patients in our tertiary cancer treatment center, according to the current literature, and to share our own data. ⋯ After evaluating our data retrospectively, we determined that we were compatible with the current literature.
