The predictive value of hemogram parameters for early preterm delivery in pregnant women undergoing cervical cerclage.
This study aims to investigate the predictive value of hemogram parameters in early preterm delivery (32 gestational weeks and below) among pregnant women who have undergone cervical cerclage, based on cervical changes determined before the cerclage procedure. ⋯ The use of hemogram parameters to predict early preterm delivery in pregnant women undergoing prophylactic cerclage is not appropriate. However, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio value can predict early preterm delivery when cervical dilation is 3 cm or less and/or cervical shortening is 5 mm or less. When cervical dilation exceeds 3 cm, the white blood cell value is more appropriate for predicting early preterm delivery.

Hepatitis B reactivation risk and physician awareness in rheumatological patients receiving anti-tumor necrosis factor-α treatment.
We aimed to evaluate the risk of hepatitis B virus reactivation in rheumatic patients using anti-tumor necrosis factor-alpha drugs and the awareness of physicians about hepatitis B virus reactivation. ⋯ The screening rates and awareness of physicians providing anti-tumor necrosis factor-alpha therapy for hepatitis B virus infection were found to be higher compared to similar studies. Hepatitis B virus reactivation did not develop in any patient. Since the risk of hepatitis B virus reactivation is low, especially in patients with previous hepatitis B, it would be more appropriate to follow up the patients without giving antiviral prophylaxis.

Evaluation of some immunological markers in co-infection of COVID-19 with thrush candidiasis.
COVID-19 infection poses significant risks, including life-threatening consequences and fungus synchronization, making it a significant concern. This study seeks to assess the effect of concurrent infection of COVID-19 with Thrush Candida albicans on the patient's health state by measuring the proportion of immune cells and certain interleukins such as IL-8, -10, -17, and -33. ⋯ Patient groups showed increased neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, and IL-8 levels, with a significant linear association between proinflammatory interleukins and these cells.

Observational StudyThe role of the prognostic nutritional index in predicting mortality in stroke patients.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of the prognostic nutritional index in predicting in-hospital mortality among patients with acute ischemic stroke. ⋯ Prognostic nutritional index is a valuable prognostic indicator for in-hospital mortality in acute ischemic stroke patients. Low prognostic nutritional index values are associated with increased mortality risk. Incorporating prognostic nutritional index into clinical practice may aid in the early identification of high-risk patients and the optimization of treatment strategies. Further research is needed to validate these findings and explore the broader clinical applications of prognostic nutritional index.

Genetic association of the BsmI variant of vitamin D receptor gene with risk of morbid obesity.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the vitamin D receptor (VDR) BsmI variant in morbidly obese patients compared with healthy normal controls. ⋯ The BsmI variant in the VDR gene may not seem to predispose to morbid obesity in our study population. Further studies with a larger number of subjects are needed to make a more precise evaluation of this relationship.
