Reduced expression of miRNAs as potential biomarkers in axial spondyloarthritis.
This study aimed to investigate the value of miR-29a-3p, miR-27a, miR126-3p, miR-146a-5p, miR-625-3p, miR-130a, miR-32, miR-218, miR-131, and miR5196 in the diagnosis of axial spondyloarthritis and to determine whether there is a difference in miRNA expression levels between radiographic axial spondyloarthritis and non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis, as well as the relationship between miRNA expression levels, disease activity, and uveitis history. ⋯ Particularly, miR-27a, miR-126-3p, miR-146-5p, and miR-5196-3p were found to be substantially downregulated in both non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis and radiographic axial spondyloarthritis patients, suggesting their potential as diagnostic biomarkers for axial spondyloarthritis.

A new parameter in predicting contrast-induced nephropathy: Osaka prognostic score.
Nowadays, the frequency of complications is also increasing following the increasing frequency of coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention. Contrast-induced nephropathy is one of the most common of these complications. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the Osaka prognostic score, which has previously been shown to have prognostic importance in gastrointestinal malignancies, and the development of contrast-induced nephropathy. ⋯ Osaka prognostic score may be an easily calculable, user-friendly, and useful parameter to predict the development of contrast-induced nephropathy in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention after acute coronary syndromes.

Menopause and metabolic syndrome: anthropometric, lipid, and dietary profiles.
The aim of this study was to characterize the anthropometric, lipid, and dietary profiles of postmenopausal women with metabolic syndrome attending a public health service and compare them with a group of women without metabolic syndrome. ⋯ The analysis of the three profiles of postmenopausal women revealed significant imbalances, particularly in the metabolic syndrome group, highlighting the importance of regular adjustments and evaluations during this phase of a woman's life.

A new effect of intravenous iron treatment in pregnancy: contraction in nonstress test and timing of labor.
The aim of this study was to elucidate the cause and results of contractions occurring in term pregnant women receiving intravenous iron therapy. ⋯ In pregnant women with iron deficiency anemia who were beyond 35 weeks, temporary regular contractions may be observed in the nonstress test following intravenous iron replacement. We think that this effect may lead to early term birth in pregnant women with a history of cesarean section. It needs to be confirmed by further prospective studies and animal studies.
