Assessment of serum granulysin and cathepsin-L levels in vitiligo patients.
Cellular and humoral immunity plays a role in the pathogenesis of vitiligo. T lymphocytes and natural killer cells involved in cellular immunity carry out their cytotoxic activities through perforin/granzyme-dependent granule exocytosis, in which granulysin and cathepsin-L are also involved. The aim of this study was to investigate the possible role of serum granulysin and cathepsin-L in the etiopathogenesis of vitiligo and their association with disease activity and severity. ⋯ Although granulysin and cathepsin-L are molecules involved in the pathogenesis of vitiligo, the use of these molecules may not be helpful in assessing disease activity and severity. It may be helpful to conduct comprehensive and prospective studies to find new molecules to fill the gap in this area.

Observational StudyDo you mind the role of spinal sensory block duration in a crucial endocrine disorder of diabetes mellitus? A prospective observational study.
Diabetes mellitus, per se, is a global health concern, which is often accompanied by complications such as diabetic neuropathy. This prospective observational study purposed to assess the durations of spinal sensory block and motor blocks in individuals with and without diabetes mellitus who had undergone spinal anesthesia. ⋯ Diabetic cases commonly encounter prolonged block durations post-subarachnoid intervention, potentially linked to nerve sensitivity, age-related changes, and glycemic control. As such, attenuated local doses for diabetic neuropathic cases may enhance early mobilization, attenuate thromboembolic events, and expedite gastrointestinal recovery.

Prevalence of anticipatory nausea and vomiting in breast cancer patients undergoing highly emetogenic chemotherapy.
Anticipatory nausea and vomiting are unpleasant symptoms observed before undergoing chemotherapy sessions. Less is known about the occurrence of symptoms since the advent of the new neurokinin-1 antagonist. ⋯ The prevalence of anticipatory nausea is still high in the era of neurokinin-1 antagonists, and failure of antiemetic control in C1 remains the main risk factor. All efforts should be made to control chemotherapy-induced nausea or nausea and vomiting on C1 to avoid anticipatory nausea.

Association between uterine leiomyoma and fragmented QRS waves: a prospective case-control study.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between uterine leiomyoma and fragmented QRS, a non-invasive indicator of cardiovascular risk and myocardial ischemia, in women with uterine leiomyoma. ⋯ This study provides valuable insights into the relationship between uterine leiomyoma and fragmented QRS. The presence of fragmented QRS was identified as an independent risk factor for the presence of leiomyoma. Further research is needed to better understand the underlying mechanisms connecting uterine leiomyoma and cardiovascular health.

Molecular monitoring by CDKN2A/p16INK4A and RB1 gene methylation in breast cancer.
This prospective study aimed to provide a comprehensive analysis of the methylation status of two pivotal genes, CDKN2A/p16INK4A (cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 2A) and RB1 (retinoblastoma transcriptional corepressor 1), in breast cancer patients. ⋯ This study presents a novel approach for monitoring breast cancer patients through the analysis of cell-free DNA methylation. This analysis can detect changes in methylation patterns before any visible sign of cancer appears in breast tissue and could help predict the recurrence of malignant breast tumors.
