Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyA novel comparison of erector spinae plane block and paravertebral block in laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Erector spinae plane block is an updated method than paravertebral block, possessing a lower risk of complications. This study aimed to compare erector spinae plane and paravertebral blocks to safely reach the most efficacious analgesia procedure in laparoscopic cholecystectomy cases. ⋯ Sonography-guided-paravertebral block provides sufficient postoperative analgesia in laparoscopic cholecystectomy surgery. Erector spinae plane seems to attenuate total tramadol consumption.

Are monocyte-to-HDL and C-reactive protein-to-albumin ratios useful for the diagnosis and follow-up of Takayasu arteritis?
In this study, we aimed to investigate the role of erythrocyte sedimentation rate, C-reactive protein, neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio, platelet/lymphocyte ratio, monocyte/lymphocyte ratio, red blood cell distribution width, mean platelet volume, monocyte/HDL ratio, and C-reactive protein/albumin ratio in the diagnosis and treatment follow-up of active and remission Takayasu arteritis patients compared with healthy control group. ⋯ C-reactive protein/albumin ratio and red blood cell distribution width can be used in the diagnosis of Takayasu arteritis, and C-reactive protein/albumin ratio, red blood cell distribution width, and monocyte/HDL ratio measurements can be used in the follow-up. As C-reactive protein/albumin ratio is more powerful than C-reactive protein in differentiating the Takayasu arteritis group from the healthy control group, evaluation of C-reactive protein/albumin ratio together with albumin instead of evaluation of C-reactive protein alone when diagnosing the disease may help us to obtain more accurate results in daily practice.

Meta AnalysisNatural supplementation to effectively treat cancer-induced fatigue: evidence of a meta-analysis on the use of guaraná.
Cancer-related fatigue is a pervasive symptom, affecting up to 90% of cancer patients throughout their illness, and can persist well after treatment has ended. Despite its prevalence, no definitive evidence-based treatment exists, leading to an abundance of proposed alternatives, including natural supplements. To further explore the potential effects of guaraná on cancer-related fatigue, a systematic review with meta-analysis was conducted and registered on the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (CRD42023484144). ⋯ This meta-analysis provides support for the use of guaraná in the treatment of cancer-related fatigue. However, further investigation through larger prospective randomized controlled trials is necessary to validate these findings.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison of rocuronium priming vs. standard rapid sequence intubation technique in emergency department patients requiring intubation.
In our study, we aimed to compare the effect of standard rapid sequence intubation protocol and the application of rocuronium priming technique on the procedure time and hemodynamic profile. ⋯ NCT05343702.

Randomized Controlled TrialDid diet compliance and remission reduce oxidative stress in celiac patients?
We aimed to examine the effect of remission status on thiol-disulfide homeostasis in celiac patients and thus to indirectly determine the effect of oxidative stress and inflammation caused by non-compliance with the diet. ⋯ Not being in remission in celiac disease leads to increased oxidative stress, and thiol-disulfide homeostasis is an indirect indicator of this. Additionally, providing remission in celiac patients reduces oxidative stress.
