Randomized Controlled TrialModified thoracoabdominal nerves block through perichondrial approach for laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
A new block, namely, modified thoracoabdominal nerves block through perichondrial approach, is administered below the costal cartilage. We sought to compare the analgesic efficacy of the modified thoracoabdominal nerves block through perichondrial approach block with local anesthetic infiltration at the port sites in an adult population who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy. ⋯ Patients who received modified thoracoabdominal nerves block through perichondrial approach block had significantly less analgesic consumption and better pain scores than those who received port-site injections after laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Randomized Controlled TrialMobile app for pelvic floor muscle training for urinary incontinence during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic: clinical trial.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of home-based pelvic floor muscle training in women with urinary incontinence, addressing the difficulties arising from social isolation due to the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic by utilizing a specialized mobile app. ⋯ This study revealed notable enhancements in stress urinary incontinence, urinary storage, and overall quality of life subsequent to pelvic floor muscle training guided by a mobile app, particularly during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. The mobile app demonstrated robust acceptance and adherence among women experiencing urinary incontinence.

Observational StudyCould signal peptide complement C1r/C1s, Uegf, and Bmp1, and epidermal growth factor-containing protein 1 be a therapeutic target in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia?
Determination of biomolecules that play a role in the etiopathogenesis of preeclampsia and their application as therapeutic targets may increase surveillance in this patient group. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between signal peptide complement C1r/C1s, Uegf, and Bmp1, and epidermal growth factor-containing protein 1, a marker of endothelial dysfunction and platelet activation, and the development of preeclampsia. ⋯ Signal peptide complement C1r/C1s, Uegf, and Bmp1, and epidermal growth factor-containing protein 1 is significantly elevated in pregnant women with preeclampsia compared with healthy controls.

Different methods for assessing glomerular filtration rate in the elderly.
The objective of this study was to identify the best method to replace cystatin C in the evaluation of glomerular filtration in the elderly. ⋯ Collaboration Epidemiology of Chronic Kidney Disease based on creatinine presented the best performance. Creatinine debug had the worst performance, which reinforces the idea that 24-h urine collection is unnecessary in these patients.

Local imaging to interpret tumor size in F18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/CT in lung cancers.
This study aimed to determine the thoracic and extra-thoracic extension of the disease in patients diagnosed with lung cancer and who had whole-body F18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/CT imaging and to investigate whether there is a relationship between tumor size and extrathoracic spread. ⋯ Positron emission tomography/CT may be more appropriate for cases with a nodule diameter of ≤20 mm. Performing local imaging in patients with a nodule diameter of ≤20 mm could reduce radiation exposure and save radiopharmaceuticals used in positron emission tomography/CT imaging.
