Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
Influence of mitral regurgitation repair on survival in the surgical treatment for ischemic heart failure trial.
Whether mitral valve repair during coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) improves survival in patients with ischemic mitral regurgitation (MR) remains unknown. ⋯ URL: http://www.clinicaltrials.gov. Unique identifier: NCT00023595.

On-pump versus off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery in elderly patients: results from the Danish on-pump versus off-pump randomization study.
Conventional coronary artery bypass grafting performed with the use of cardiopulmonary bypass is a well-validated treatment for patients with ischemic heart disease. Off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCAB) has been suggested to reduce the number of perioperative complications, especially in elderly patients. ⋯ Both conventional coronary artery bypass grafting and OPCAB are safe procedures that improved the quality of life when performed in elderly patients. No major differences in intermediate-term outcomes were found. However, the noninferiority of OPCAB with the prespecified margin could not be confirmed.

Early developmental outcome in children with hypoplastic left heart syndrome and related anomalies: the single ventricle reconstruction trial.
Survivors of the Norwood procedure may experience neurodevelopmental impairment. Clinical trials to improve outcomes have focused primarily on methods of vital organ support during cardiopulmonary bypass. ⋯ URL: http://www.clinicaltrials.gov. Unique identifier: NCT00115934.
