Multicenter StudyA phase II trial of rebeccamycin analogue (NSC #655649) in children with solid tumors: a Children's Oncology Group study.
Rebeccamycin Analogue (NSC #655649), a chemically synthesized glycosyl-dichloro-indolocarbazole derivative of rebeccamycin with topoisomerase inhibiting activity, has in vitro activity against pediatric tumor cell lines and tumor specimens including rhabdomyosarcoma, neuroblastoma, Ewing's sarcoma and medulloblastoma. ⋯ The 15% response rate to Rebeccamycin analogue observed in patients with rhabdomyosarcoma, while of interest, is associated with significant myelosuppression. With a global response rate of 3% observed in children with relapsed CNS and non-CNS solid tumors, further development of Rebeccamycin analogue in pediatric solid tumors is not recommended.

Case Reports Multicenter Study Clinical TrialTreatment of neuroblastoma-related opsoclonus-myoclonus-ataxia syndrome with high-dose dexamethasone pulses.
Opsoclonus-myoclonus-ataxia-syndrome (OMS) represents a rare neuroblastoma-associated paraneoplastic syndrome that commonly results in neurologic deficits despite tumor resection and immunosuppressive therapy. We describe the response of five such children to high-dose dexamethasone pulses including two patients in whom previous glucocorticoids, rituximab, and cytostatic drugs were not successful. ⋯ This treatment resulted in a good partial response in three and in complete remission in two patients. Our results show that dexamethasone pulses are likely to be useful for both, first-line- and salvage-therapy for OMS-patients.
