Randomized Controlled TrialReiki therapy for postoperative oral pain in pediatric patients: pilot data from a double-blind, randomized clinical trial.
To examine the effects of Reiki as an adjuvant therapy to opioid therapy for postoperative pain control in pediatric patients. ⋯ Our study provides a successful example of a blinding procedure for Reiki therapy among children in the perioperative period. This study does not support the effectiveness of Reiki as an adjuvant therapy to opioid therapy for postoperative pain control in pediatric patients.

Randomized Controlled TrialHigh frequency TENS as a complement for pain relief in postoperative transition from epidural to general analgesia after pancreatic resection.
This study investigated the effect of high frequency transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation (TENS) as a pain relieving complementary therapy at the transition from epidural (EDA) to general analgesia after pancreatic surgery by horizontal, abdominal incision. ⋯ This study did not find support to reject use of high frequency TENS as complement during transition from EDA to general analgesia after major abdominal surgery with horizontal incision.

This study sought to determine the effects of lavender aromatherapy on pain following needle insertion into a fistula in patients undergoing hemodialysis. ⋯ Lavender aromatherapy may be an effective technique to reduce pain following needle insertion into a fistula in hemodialysis patients.
