The association of blood transfusion with an increase in medium- and short-term mortality in specific populations has been confirmed. However, the correlation between blood transfusion and long-term mortality in the general population remains unclear. This cohort study evaluated the correlation between blood transfusion and overall and cause-specific mortality in the general American adult population. ⋯ In the general American population, blood transfusion significantly impacts long-term all-cause and cardiovascular mortality and may be an unacknowledged risk factor for death. Thus, the effective management of blood transfusion in the general population may be beneficial.

Melatonin improves fertilization rate in assisted reproduction: Systematic review and meta-analysis.
Melatonin is a hormone produced by the pineal gland and it has antioxidant properties. ⋯ Melatonin had beneficial effects such as the improvement in the fertilization rate, although the authors did not obtain significance in the clinical pregnancy rate.

The authors hypothesized that ventilation and hyperoxia may harm the cochlea vasculature in an experimental model of Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) performed in rabbits. ⋯ The severity of bleeding was 3.16 times worse with 100% oxygenation in CDH. This information may be helpful for future therapeutic strategies for decreasing SNHL in CDH patients.

Cuproptosis is known to regulate diverse physiological functions in many diseases, but its role in regulating Myocardial Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury (MI/RI) remains unclear. ⋯ This study demonstrated the prognostic value of cuproptosis-related genes (Dlat, Pdhb, and Pdhα1), especially Pdhb, MI/RI, providing new insight into the MI/RI treatment.

Low-level red-light therapy for myopia control in children: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Low-Level Red-Light (LLRL) Therapy is a safe and natural way to promote healing and reduce inflammation in the body. When it comes to treating myopia in children, LLRL therapy is recent, and its efficacy and safety still are not clear. ⋯ LLRL therapy is a non-invasive, effective, and safe short-term treatment option; however, long-term evaluation, particularly in comparison to other therapies, requires additional investigation.
