This study aimed to compare progression-free survival, overall survival, clinical benefits, and adverse effects in postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive and HER2-negative breast cancer who received buparlisib plus fulvestrant against those of women who received dalpiciclib plus fulvestrant, considering ribociclib plus letrozole treatment as the reference standard. ⋯ Dalpiciclib plus fulvestrant is effective and comparatively safe in postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive and HER2-negative breast cancers. Dalpiciclib, buparlisib, fulvestrant, and ribociclib cause neutropenia, severe depression, adverse gastroenterological effects, and adverse hepatological effects, respectively.

The prevalence of COVID-19 as the primary diagnosis among hospitalized patients with myocardial injury has increased during the pandemic and targeting elevated oxidant stress and inflammatory biomarkers may offer a potential role for novel therapies to improve outcomes. ⋯ Newly diagnosed COVID-19 during the pandemic was a common cause of elevated troponin in hospitalized patients without a Type 1 MI. Age, peak troponin level and peak CRP level were independent predictors of poor outcomes and suggest a need to target these cardiac biomarkers, potentially with novel antioxidant or anti-inflammatory therapies.

To retrospectively investigate the impact of pre-treatment Extracellular Volume Fraction (ECV) measured by Computed Tomography (CT) on the response of primary lesions to preoperative chemotherapy in abdominal neuroblastoma. ⋯ The measurement of pre-treatment ECV on CT images demonstrates a significant correlation with the response of the primary lesion to preoperative chemotherapy in abdominal neuroblastoma.

Very Low Birthweight (VLBW) infants with neonatal Chronic Lung Disease (CLD) have been found to have functional impairment of the brainstem auditory pathway at term. This study investigated the functional status of the brainstem auditory pathway in VLBW infants with CLD after term for any abnormality. ⋯ The main BAER abnormality in VLBW infants with CLD was a prolonged III‒V interval. Auditory conduction is delayed or impaired at more central regions of the brainstem in CLD infants. After term central auditory function is adversely affected by neonatal CLD. Monitoring post-term change is required to provide valuable information for post-term care of CLD infants.

This study explored novel biomarkers that can affect the diagnosis and treatment in Alzheimer's Disease (AD) related to mitochondrial metabolism. ⋯ This study identified biomarkers related to mitochondrial metabolism in AD and provided a theoretical basis for the diagnosis of AD. PMAIP1 was a potential candidate gene that may affect mitochondrial function in Hippocampal neuronal cells, and its mechanism deserves further study.
