Aortic Dissection (AD) is one of the most fatal acute diseases in cardiovascular diseases, with rapid onset and progression and a high fatality rate. This study aims to investigate the clinical values of non-enhancement peripheral pulse-gating rapid magnetic resonance imaging in deterministic diagnosis of AD. ⋯ Non-enhancement peripheral pulse-gated rapid magnetic resonance imaging can be used for deterministic diagnosis of AD.

Alpha-1-Antitrypsin (A1AT) is a protease inhibitor encoded by the SERPINA1 gene. A1AT serves as the primary natural inhibitor of Proteinase 3 (PR3), an enzyme found in neutrophils. PR3 is an antigenic target of Anti-Neutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibodies (ANCA). While numerous studies have established a connection between Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) in the SERPINA1 gene and ANCA-Associated Vasculitis (AAV), limited research has delved into the impact of these polymorphisms on the prognosis of these patients. ⋯ SERPINA1 SNPs are associated with increased mortality in Brazilian AAV patients.

Brazil faces notable Breast Cancer (BC) mortality despite lower incidence rates versus developed countries. Despite guidelines from medical societies, Brazilian public policy recommends biennial mammographic screening for women aged 50 to 69. This study investigates sociodemographic and clinical factors related to BC detection methods and clinical stage at diagnosis. ⋯ Mammographic detection reduces advanced-stage breast cancer prevalence in Brazil, emphasizing the importance of regular screenings, especially among at-risk sociodemographic groups. Enhancing mammographic screening accessibility, lowering the starting age to 40, and extending coverage to include annual mammograms can significantly lower breast cancer mortality in Brazil, benefiting public health and patient outcomes.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a prevalent tumor with high mortality rates. Computed tomography (CT) is crucial in the non-invasive diagnosis of HCC. Recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) have shown significant potential in medical imaging analysis. However, developing these AI algorithms is hindered by the scarcity of comprehensive, publicly available liver imaging datasets. ⋯ A comprehensive data structure was successfully created and integrated with the IT systems of a teaching hospital, enabling research on deep learning algorithms applied to abdominal CT scans for investigating hepatic lesions such as HCC.

Cell Migration Inducing Hyaluronidase 1 (CEMIP) is a protein that plays regulatory functions in a variety of cellular processes in many diseases. Nevertheless, its role and molecular mechanism in keloid hyperplasia are still elusive. ⋯ In summary, this study revealed that CEMIP modulated KF proliferation, migration, invasion and ECM deposition by TGF-β/Smad signaling through binding to SPARC.
