To determine the magnitude of setup and organ motion errors from a subset of prostate cancer patients treated with conventional conformal radiotherapy, and to estimate the CTV-PTV margin according to published margin recipes. ⋯ Customised PTV margin definition has been possible through in-house measurements of geometrical clinical uncertainties involved in the conventional conformal radiotherapy process. Uncertainty measurements in our department have proved to be larger than those used in common practice. Additional margin reduction procedures are needed in order to accomplish conformal radiotherapy goals.

The objective was to compare the short- and long-term impact of 3 different treatment modalities on health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in patients treated for localised prostate cancer at a single centre in Catalonia, Spain. ⋯ Quality of life 2 years after treatment for prostate cancer shows wide variability. Radical prostatectomy had the largest negative impact on the sexual and urinary incontinence domains. Differences between external radiation and brachytherapy were relatively small. Brachytherapy led to a moderate increase in urinary irritation compared to the other 2 groups.

Linguistic adaptation and validation of the Spanish version of the Memorial Pain Assessment Card (MPAC).
The Memorial Pain Assessment Card (MPAC), validated in 1987, is a card utilised for the self-assessment of cancer pain. The MPAC provides a quick, reliable measure of quality of life. ⋯ Our findings showed a successful validation of the VASPI, VASMOOD and Tursky subscales of the MPAC Spanish version.
