Epilepsy and attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are frequent conditions in pediatrics. Their association is frequent and complex, often sharing psychiatric comorbidity. Patients who present epilepsy and ADHD, show equal frequency in both genders, with the inattentive type, as predominant presentation. ⋯ Psych stimulants can be used safely. The quality of life of the patients and their families is affected, so it is advisable for them to be supported by a specialized team that could provide education, early assessment and therapy. If they are omitted, the consequences can be negative at school, social environment and emotional development, which could be relevant and become persistent.

Diabetic foot attack has an acute and severe presentation that threatens the affected limb and the patient's life. It is a term that arises from the need to identify those patients that require urgent intervention; it conveys a sense of urgency and severity, reminding the term of "time is tissue". ⋯ The aim of identifying these diabetic foot presentations is to promote rapid intervention to provide adequate and effective treatment, avoiding the most feared complication which is the limb amputation. In the present review, a description of the pathophysiology, clinical presentation, treatment and evolution of the three types of diabetic foot attack is made.

Multicenter Study
[Convalescent plasma as a therapy for severe COVID-19 pneumonia].
The COVID-19 pandemic presented high mortality from its beginning, without effective treatment for seriously ill patients. Build on the experience in Argentine hemorrhagic fever with convalescent plasma, we incorporated 90 patients with COVID-19, of which 87 were evaluable, into a multicenter study. We collected 397 plasma donations from 278 convalescent donors. ⋯ We observed an episode of circulatory volume overload and a febrile reaction, both mild. Convalescent plasma infusions are feasible, safe, and potentially effective, especially before requiring mechanical ventilation. They are an attractive clinical option for treating severe forms of COVID-19 until other effective therapies become available.

Research on autism and mental disorders has been unsuccessful over the past few decades, as can be inferred from the poor results related to advances in other diseases. It is concerning that, after more than a half century of research based on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), no biological markers have been found to prove the validity of the DSM mental disorders. Criticisms to DSM have been focused mainly on the categorical conceptualization, false comorbidity and the polythetic nature of diagnostic criteria. ⋯ In the field of clinical practice, it is even more pressing a change of mindset in order to incorporate the heterogeneity of endophenotypes that overflows the classification of the DSM, to adopt a dimensional perspective of mental problems and to develop an alternative interpretation for comorbidity. Related to research are suggested designs based on Domain Research Criteria and a multifactorial analysis with very large samples (big data). For clinical practice it is suggested a dimensional approach based on the specificities of each person with autism.

CONICET's Translational Health Research Network is coordinating efforts to advance in translational medicine. Health researchers initiate and focus their research with the aim of improving the health and quality of life of the population. An efficient research system should address health problems relevant to the population resulting in interventions and outcomes important for patients and health professionals. ⋯ The recent COVID-19 pandemic has been a clear demonstration of how the country's research system has united the most diverse disciplines to jointly provide solutions to address it. An active and transparent mechanism to identify priorities in the country and to unite funding and research efforts to provide solutions to those priorities is proposed. Translational health research means the joint work of the most diverse health research disciplines in order to jointly obtain efficient and effective interventions to improve the health and quality of life of the population.
