Multicenter StudyRV Contractile Function and its Coupling to Pulmonary Circulation in Heart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction: Stratification of Clinical Phenotypes and Outcomes.
This study sought to investigate how right ventricular (RV) contractile function and its coupling with pulmonary circulation (PC) stratify clinical phenotypes and outcome in heart failure preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) patients. ⋯ A thorough assessment of RV-PC coupling and RV contractile function stratify HFpEF phenotypes at different level of risk. These observations shift the interest toward therapeutic strategies that may benefit the right heart as primary unmet need in the complex pathophysiology of the HFpEF syndrome.

Comparative StudyPrecision Phenotyping in Heart Failure and Pattern Clustering of Ultrasound Data for the Assessment of Diastolic Dysfunction.
The aim of this study was to investigate whether cluster analysis of left atrial and left ventricular (LV) mechanical deformation parameters provide sufficient information for Doppler-independent assessment of LV diastolic function. ⋯ Tracking deformation of the left-sided cardiac chambers from routine cardiac ultrasound images provides accurate information for Doppler-independent phenotypic characterization of LV diastolic function and noninvasive assessment of LV filling pressures.

ReviewNoninvasive Fractional Flow Reserve Derived From Coronary CT Angiography: Clinical Data and Scientific Principles.
Fractional flow reserve derived from coronary computed tomography angiography enables noninvasive assessment of the hemodynamic significance of coronary artery lesions and coupling of the anatomic severity of a coronary stenosis with its physiological effects. Since its initial demonstration of feasibility of use in humans in 2011, a significant body of clinical evidence has developed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of coronary computed tomography angiography-derived fractional flow reserve compared with an invasive fractional flow reserve reference standard. ⋯ S. Comparative Study Observational StudyIntervention Versus Observation in Symptomatic Patients With Normal Flow Low Gradient Severe Aortic Stenosis.
The purpose of this study was to describe patients with severe symptomatic aortic stenosis with normal flow and low gradients and determine whether they benefit from intervention. ⋯ Symptomatic patients with an aortic valve area of ≤1.0 cm2, normal flow, and low gradient may benefit from intervention as opposed to conservative treatment.
