Review Meta AnalysisPhysical Activity Interventions for Increasing Objectively Measured Physical Activity Levels in Patients With Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain: A Systematic Review.
To investigate whether physical activity interventions increase objectively measured physical activity levels of patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain (e.g., osteoarthritis, low back pain) compared to no/minimal intervention. ⋯ Our findings suggest that physical activity-based interventions may lead to little or no difference in objectively measured physical activity levels of patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain compared with no/minimal interventions. Given the number of registered trials, the pooled effect found in this review is likely to change once the results of these trials become available.

Review Meta AnalysisLateral wedge insoles for reducing biomechanical risk factors for medial knee osteoarthritis progression: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Lateral wedge insoles are intended to reduce biomechanical risk factors of medial knee osteoarthritis (OA) progression, such as increased knee joint load; however, there has been no definitive consensus on this topic. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to establish the within-subject effects of lateral wedge insoles on knee joint load in people with medial knee OA during walking. ⋯ Lateral wedge insoles cause small reductions in the EKAM and KAAI during walking in people with medial knee OA. Current evidence demonstrates that lateral wedge insoles appear ineffective at attenuating structural changes in people with medial knee OA as a whole and may be better suited to targeted use in biomechanical phenotypes associated with larger reductions in knee load.

Meta AnalysisEffect of Aerobic Exercise Training on Fatigue in Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Meta-Analysis.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) fatigue is not being well-managed currently, and evidence of effective interventions is limited. Aerobic exercise may provide benefit to treat fatigue in RA. Therefore, the purpose of this meta-analysis is to analyze the effect of aerobic land-based exercise on fatigue in RA. ⋯ There is evidence with low risk of bias that an aerobic exercise program is effective in reducing fatigue among patients with RA, especially in the short term; however, effects are small. To substantiate the evidence, RCTs should be performed in patients with RA selected for having fatigue.

Meta AnalysisOverall and cause-specific mortality in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus: a meta-analysis of observational studies.
To determine the magnitude of risk from all-cause and cause-specific mortality in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) compared to the general population through a meta-analysis of observational studies. ⋯ The published data indicated a 3-fold increase in all-cause mortality in patients with SLE compared to the general population. Additionally, all cause-specific mortality rates were increased except for malignancy, with renal disease having the highest mortality risk.

Review Meta AnalysisUtility of anti-melanoma differentiation-associated gene 5 antibody measurement in identifying patients with dermatomyositis and a high risk for developing rapidly progressive interstitial lung disease: a review of the literature and a meta-analysis.
To assess the utility of anti-melanoma differentiation-associated gene 5 (anti-MDA5) antibody measurement for predicting a risk for developing rapidly progressive interstitial lung disease (RP-ILD) in patients with polymyositis/dermatomyositis (PM/DM). ⋯ Detection of anti-MDA5 antibody is a valuable tool for identifying DM patients with a high risk for developing RP-ILD, but the distribution of classic DM and CADM in patients with this antibody varies among ethnic groups.
