Clavicle fractures represent up to 10 % of all fractures, affecting mainly a young population. Open reduction and internal plate fixation provide good results, but evidence on the best plate positioning is still unclear. Aim of this retrospective study was to compare superior and antero-inferior plating positioning in the surgical treatment of displaced midshaft clavicle fractures. ⋯ III.

To analyze the application value of damage control strategies combining pre-hospital emergency treatment with in-hospital treatment for multiple injuries in treating pelvic fracture complicated by multiple injuries. ⋯ For patients with pelvic fracture, the application of the damage control strategy combining pre-hospital emergency treatment and in-hospital treatment is a boon to the standardization of the treatment process, the improvement of the treatment success rate and fracture reduction quality and the reduction of complications, and therefore is worth promoting in clinical practice. the early application of external fixation has helped with the definitive reduction at a time when the patuent was stable.

Previous research has identified low socioeconomic status (SES) as a risk factor for long-term sickness absence (LTSA) and disability pension (DP) following trauma. However, most studies lack information on medical diagnoses, limiting our understanding of the underlying factors. To address this gap, we retrieved information about diagnostic causes for receipt of welfare benefits to explore the role of SES in the transition from post-injury LTSA to permanent DP among the working population in Norway. ⋯ The relationship between SES and DP varied by both the type of injury that caused LTSA and the diagnosis used to grant DP, highlighting the importance of taking diagnostic information into account when investigating long-term consequences of injuries.

This study aims to analyze the clinical characteristics, demographic features, and injury circumstances of patients admitted to the Emergency Department (ED) at Fondazione Policlinico Universitario A. Gemelli (IRCCS) in Rome, Italy, due to bicycle accidents. ⋯ Although a low mortality rate and a low incidence of multi-trauma have been shown in comparison to other nations, it is necessary to adopt prevention strategies like safety devices, more cycle paths, and better infrastructures on the one hand, and stricter laws on the other. It is essential to require toxicological testing in Italy for all accidents involving this means of transport, and to make helmet use compulsory for all ages.

Pilon fractures represent a challenging subset of tibial fractures. The management of AO/OTA Type C3 fractures remains complex due to associated complications and lack of clear guidelines for surgical timing and methods. A prospective cohort study was conducted to evaluate two staged treatment strategies for AO/OTA Type C3 tibial pilon fractures. ⋯ Additionally, avoiding fibular shortening was shown to be crucial in preventing prolonged surgery and improving patient function. The study demonstrated that the staged treatment approach with early internal fixation led to shorter operative times, improved ankle function, and reduced complications, including a lower risk of infection. The findings support the use of this treatment to optimize outcomes in AO/OTA Type C3 pilon fractures.
