Case Reports
A case of pulmonary hemorrhage due to drug-induced pneumonitis secondary to ticagrelor therapy.
We report a case of significant pulmonary hemorrhage developing shortly after commencing ticagrelor and aspirin therapy and requiring coronary artery bypass grafting to safely cease the antiplatelet therapy. Lung biopsy findings were consistent with drug-induced lung injury. Clinicians should be aware of this significant adverse event with this drug class.

Bronchology CasesSESSION TYPE: Case ReportsPRESENTED ON: Sunday, March 23, 2014 at 09:00 AM - 10:00 AMINTRODUCTION: The tracheo-bronchial anatomy is supplied by the superior thyroid and bronchial-pulmonary arterial and venous system which is typically a low pressure system on the venous side. Typical bronchoscopy reveals pink mucosa without visible veins in the sub-mucosal level. ⋯ The following authors have nothing to disclose: Prashanth ThalanayarNo Product/Research Disclosure Information.

COPD Epidemiology & Physiology PostersSESSION TYPE: Poster PresentationsPRESENTED ON: Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 01:15 PM - 02:15 PMPURPOSE: Common techniques used to measure lung volumes may yield inaccurate results in patients with large bullae. Plethysmography may overestimate while gas dilution may underestimate functional lung volumes. Auto Smart Segmentation (SS) is used by radiation physicists to accurately map lung portions receiving radiation therapy. It uses contouring methodology to trace and accurately measure volume of contoured anatomic structures. Hypothesis. Contouring of bullae on thoracic Computed Tomography (CT) and digital subtraction of contoured volumes using SS will yield accurate lung volumes unaffected by technical limitations or patient effort. ⋯ The following authors have nothing to disclose: Basim Dubaybo, Sikandar AnsariNo Product/Research Disclosure Information.

Pleural Disease/Pleural Effusion PostersSESSION TYPE: Poster PresentationsPRESENTED ON: Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 01:15 PM - 02:15 PMPURPOSE: The present study was designed to measure sialic acid levels in pleural effusion and serum samples of patients with malignant and nonmalignant diseases to discriminate each other, and to diagnose malignant effusion in a simple, cheap and reliable way. ⋯ The following authors have nothing to disclose: Sherif Alsayed, Samar MarzoukNo Product/Research Disclosure Information.

Pediatric Pulmonary Case Report PostersSESSION TYPE: Case Report PosterPRESENTED ON: Sunday, March 23, 2014 at 01:15 PM - 02:15 PMINTRODUCTION: Alveolar capillary dysplasia (ACD) is a rare, fatal developmental lung disorder that typically presents with respiratory failure and pulmonary hypertension in neonates. Until recently, lung biopsy provided the only means of definitive diagnosis and remains the gold standard. Blood testing is now available for mutations in the FOXF1 transcription gene isolated in 40% of cases. We describe a case of late presentation ACD with genetic testing supporting the diagnosis in a term infant who presented with symptoms at 2 months of age. ⋯ The following authors have nothing to disclose: Sharon Thomas, Mudit Mathur, Thomas BahkNo Product/Research Disclosure Information.
