Role of lumbar puncture level on the onset of epidural labor analgesia: a randomized controlled trial.
To compare the speed of achieving painless uterine contractions in parturients undergoing epidural analgesia at different lumbar puncture levels. ⋯ Puncturing through the L2-3 interspace is associated with faster pain relief and a better experience for parturients. These findings present a superior option for anesthesiologists when conducting epidural labor analgesia. Key messages What is already known on this topic? Epidural analgesia is an effective way to relieve labor pain. What this study adds? Puncturing via lumbar 2-3 interspace induces more rapid onset of epidural analgesia. How this study might affect research, practice or policy? Lumbar 2-3 interspace is a superior option in terms of the speed of pain relief and satisfaction of parturients when conducting epidural labor analgesia.

Comparison of diclofenac with tramadol, tizanidine or placebo in the treatment of acute low back pain and sciatica: multi-center randomized controlled trial.
Low back pain (LBP) is a leading cause of disability worldwide and has posed numerous health and socioeconomic challenges. This study compared whether nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in combination with tramadol, tizanidine or placebo would be the best treatment regime to improve the Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ) scores at 1 week. ⋯ Among patients with acute LBP and sciatica presenting to the ED, adding tramadol or tizanidine to diclofenac did not improve functional recovery.

Effects of remimazolam tosilate on gastrointestinal hormones and gastrointestinal motility in patients undergoing gastrointestinal endoscopy with sedation: a randomized control trial.
To investigate the impacts of remimazolam tosilate on gastrointestinal hormones and motility in patients undergoing gastrointestinal endoscopy with sedation. ⋯ Compared with propofol used during gastrointestinal endoscopy with sedation, remimazolam tosilate mildly inhibits the serum motilin and gastrin levels, potentially facilitating the recovery of gastrointestinal motility.

Evaluation of a novel disposable endoscope for retroflexed endoscopic rubber band ligation of internal hemorrhoids: a randomized pilot study.
Retroflexed endoscopic rubber band ligation (ERBL) for treating Grade II and III internal hemorrhoids using disposable endoscopes has not been previously assessed. We therefore compared the safety and effectiveness of ERBL for internal hemorrhoids using novel disposable endoscopes versus traditional reusable endoscopes. ⋯ Compared with reusable endoscopes, disposable endoscopes are equally safe, feasible, and reliable in ERBL for internal hemorrhoids.

Multiple intra-articular injections of autologous stromal vascular fractions for the treatment of multicompartmental osteoarthritis in both the tibiofemoral and patellofemoral joint: a single-blind randomized controlled study.
Multicompartmental osteoarthritis (MOA) in both tibiofemoral and patellofemoral joints is a more commonly occurring, but neglected, clinical condition, and we examined the short-term safety and efficacy of autologous stromal vascular fractions (SVFs) for MOA using a single-blind, prospective, randomized, placebo-controlled trial. ⋯ Multiple intra-articular injection of autologous SVF reduces pain and improves function in the short term in patients with early or midstage MOA. However, there was heterogeneity in the improvement of overall knee and isolated patellofemoral joint after treatment.
