Faculty diversity has important implications for improving the cultural competency and diversity of medical students and residents. However, dermatology is one of the least diverse fields in medicine. ⋯ Expansion of faculty in US dermatology departments over the past half century has led to greater female representation, now similar to that in the general population. Higher-ranking faculty is associated with lower diversity. Although dermatology department faculty diversity by sex, race, and ethnicity has partially improved over the past 49 years, continued attention to the lagging representation of URM faculty should be a priority for the field of academic dermatology.

Although various treatments have been found in clinical trials to be effective in treating actinic keratosis (AK), researchers often report different outcomes. Heterogeneous outcome reporting precludes the comparison of results across studies and impedes the synthesis of treatment effectiveness in systematic reviews. ⋯ Consensus was reached regarding a core outcome set for AK trials. Further research may help determine the specific outcome measures used to assess each of these outcomes.

Podophyllotoxin is an antimitotic agent primarily used in the local treatment of anogenital warts. Data that enable the assessment of the fetal safety of podophyllotoxin use during pregnancy are lacking. ⋯ Findings from this study suggest that podophyllotoxin use during pregnancy may be safe, as it did not appear to be associated with an increased risk of adverse fetal outcomes. These findings may help guide clinicians, patients, and drug regulatory authorities when prescribing podophyllotoxin.
