An 82-year-old female with a history of aortic dissection was admitted to our hospital for evaluation of thrombocytopenia and a bleeding tendency. Blood coagulation test data demonstrated that the patient had disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) secondary to aortic dissection. ⋯ In addition, we reviewed 7 other patients who were treated with tranexamic acid for DIC associated with aortic dissection. Anti-fibrinolytic therapy with tranexamic acid is effective for treating DIC secondary to aortic dissection.
